About me

My parents always promised they would buy me a horse but it was never high priority with money being tight so it wasn't until I was 16 and chance led me to being asked to ride a horse, Touin, who had been living with cows and unridden for the past 2yrs.
I never had any lessons and just learnt with him as we went along hacking around the countryside. A year later he was put on the market and I wasn't allowed to ride him anymore which broke my heart. I took a horse and companion pony on loan but I still often drove past the field to see if Touin was still there, and he always was.
On my 18th birthday I was given some money, and without thought I phoned the farmer who was selling Touin and bought him. He was my life and my love. We spent another year learning together and bonding, naturally, before we discovered a riding school in the next village.
I then learnt the BHS way and passed my stages in horse management, care and riding. I still used natural communication methods in my handling and converted many others as they turned from laughing at me to seeing the great results that I had with the horses I worked with.
Around the same time, I became more involved in healing, through my eldest sister, learning how to use crystals and spiritual healing with people, but it never felt quite the right thing or the right time so I continued my life working as an accountant and trying to further my career.
At the end of 2001, Touin passed over aged around 29yrs old and in March 2002 I was given the opportunity to get out of the rut I was in and moved to Brighton, East Sussex. It was always in the back of my mind that I missed my animals, and particularly my horse, and I knew that some day I would get another.
I continued with my accounting studies and vowed that 'when' I qualified, I would start my search for my new equine companion. However, in March 2006, just as I was coming to the end of my studies, I was involved in a car accident which, although not serious, left me with ongoing back trouble and put paid to my plans.
A year later, and still suffering, I saw an advert for somebody to part share a horse. I couldn't resist, phoned the number and arranged to go to the yard to meet Maddie and her horse Ruby, a beautiful dark bay 15.2h Thoroughbred mare. From the first moment I sat on Ruby, it was like I'd never been away. Unfortunately Ruby was constantly in the wars, either being kicked in the field or catching her legs on the fences and was out of work more than in.
I decided that I really must get my own again and I asked the yard owner if there were any spaces available and within the day had paid a holding deposit, giving me a month to find a horse! It took about 6wks of searching but when I met Splash for the first time, I just knew he was the one, despite only being 3 1/2 yrs old, much younger than I was looking for, but ticked all the other boxes on my shopping list.

I have become great friends with Maddie and with all the troubles she was having with Ruby, she had called in an animal healer and communicator, Elizabeth Whiter. Maddie invited me to an evening demonstration that Liz was holding. I went along to find it was actually a healing circle, but it felt like I'd come home. It felt like this was the place I was meant to be and that Ruby was instrumental in getting me to meet Maddie and subsequently Liz.
That evening I learnt that Liz had opened a school for Animal Healing and Equine Healing and I applied as soon as I got home. The course was amazing, it covered many aspects including anatomy and physiology as well as behaviour, diet and nutrition amongst many other things. The journey changed my life and here I am now, doing what I feel I have been designed to do.
